7 Pros to Having Your Babymoon at Country Cabins Inn (Mountain View, Wyoming)

As many of you know, I am currently pregnant with our second child. Technically, I’m due in 2 weeks, but that could be any day now! Coincidentally, Nate and I recently celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary.

What did we do to celebrate? We went to Country Cabins Inn!

(To see a tour of our cabin and stay, check out my Instagram Highlights titled “Country Cabins”)

It was one of those times when I didn’t know I needed a vacation until I was there. And I have to admit, leaving Parker even for just one night was hard! The last time we left him was our last anniversary last year. As hard as it was though, I knew this would be the only chance we would have to get away for a while. We needed it!

Anyway, Country Cabins Inn was the perfect spot for me and Nate to disconnect from our daily lives and reconnect with each other.

I also have to mention that the owner and his family are super friendly! I had been in communication with the owner’s son, but we met Alma Harmon, the owner himself, at check-in. He told us all about the new lodge he is building and that it should be completed by Christmas of next year. Who wants to plan a big Christmas vacation with me??

The current lodge is above a Chinese restaurant they also own and manage. Most of the “rooms” however, are individual cabins, which is where we stayed. We spent the night in Room #209, a cute cabin with a bear theme.

#1: Have Your Own Space

Due to the accommodations being cabins, you have an entire building to yourself. You don’t have to worry about hearing other vacationers next door or even walking down the hall. Instead, you don’t have to worry about anything!

We could set the air temperature to how we wanted. We used the mini fridge and microwave when we pleased. It truly felt like Nate and I were the only people in all of Mountain View, and that was a nice feeling.

The owner and his wife hand-built all the cabins with their family – 13 children! They generally all have the same floor plan and are as Lincoln Log as cabins should be. Simply knowing all the hard work put into the space makes it even more memorable.

#2: Enjoy Peace & Quiet

Along with having your own cabin comes silence. I actually mentioned to Nate that it was so quiet at night! There was no child crying (or trying to negotiate his way out of bed), no police sirens, no car engines, and no neighborly conversations. It was magical!

The inn is already located in a pretty rural area (Mountain View, WY) and that helped a lot too. A quiet town provides a quiet night.

In addition, if you’re like me and want to deliver your babies naturally, the quiet is great to practice meditation and breathing techniques. Of course, when you’re actually in labor it won’t be so peaceful, but it’s good to get in all the calm before the storm.

#3: Experience Complete Darkness

Yes, Country Cabins Inn is located in the middle of nowhere. It’s quiet and it’s dark. For me, that makes it all the more romantic! It was so cool to go outside and be able to see real stars in the sky.

Let’s not forget sleep! My pregnancy insomnia is at an all-time high, but the darkness allowed my body to relax more. Did you know that sleeping in a pitch black room is actually better for you?

According to Slumbr, “Even small amounts of light pollution can keep your pineal gland from producing melatonin.” So for all you out there who also suffer from pregnancy insomnia, this place is the place to sleep!

#4: Sleep in a Soft Bed

Speaking of sleep, the beds are fantastic! Our cabin had a king size bed which allowed me to move around more to get comfortable.

In addition, each bed at Country Cabins Inn has a pillow-top, making it even more soft! Honestly though, that pillow-top let me sleep so much better than I normally do because it supported both my body and belly without feeling a hard spring underneath.

I would be amiss if I didn’t mention the bed frame too. As you can see, it is very intricate and unique. Nate told me as soon as he saw it that he wants one “when we grow up.” 🙂 It matched the rest of the wood cabin perfectly and made us feel like true Wyoming royalty for the night.

#5: Relax in a Jetted Tub

I don’t know about you, but being pregnant can be hard! I felt light as a bird with my first, however this current baby has put more of a strain on my body. My pelvis, hips, and lower back ache at such a constant rate I sometimes forget about it. That is, until I soak in a jetted tub.

Learning that all the cabins are equipped with jetted tubs is actually what made me interested in the first place. I knew that I wanted to experience it on our anniversary/babymoon trip. Fortunately, Nate brought some homework to catch up on while I luxuriously soaked in the bathroom. But hey, I came out feeling like a new woman!

#6: Do What You Want

When you’re finished with the tub and pop a bag of microwave popcorn, it’s time to snuggle up underneath the warm blankets of that soft bed and watch a show! All the cabin televisions are connected to Roku so you can watch what you want. No need to scroll through cable like you would at a regular hotel. Right now Nate and I are in the middle of binging NCIS so what did we watch? NCIS!

Don’t worry, we also brought along the book we are reading as well. And you know we couldn’t forget about playing some of our favorite board games!

There is a small table next to the kitchenette and a cozy wood bench in the corner so there are plenty of options to go if you don’t want to spend your entire time in one spot.

#7: Satisfy Your Late Night Cravings

“Oh, you’re pregnant! What are your cravings?” Admittedly, I don’t normally get specific cravings during my pregnancy. It’s more of a random “I’m starving and I will eat the entire kitchen” type of feeling.

Knowing that, Nate and I ordered extra food with our dinner to take back to the cabin. And as if in anticipation of all pregnant women everywhere, Country Cabins Inn keeps vending machines in their laundromat, conveniently located in the middle of all the cabins. That’s right, no matter what time of day or night you can take a couple steps to satisfy those cravings.
